Born on 20 July 1943 in Zürich. He grew up together with 2 brothers in Zürich. As soon as during his primary school time some people discovered his drawing abilities. However, he was not granted admittance to the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zürich. After school he learned the profession of chef in a known restaurant in Zürich. After having completed his apprenticeship Hans Fitze worked in different hotels in Graubünden, Tessin and also abroad during his years of travel as a chef. His journeys in connection with his work and his hobby, drawing and painting, led him through the whole of Europe and America. As a well-known, designated chef he led a thriving restaurant in Herrliberg at Lake Zürich together with his uncle. During these years he drew and painted during his leisure time. He learned different painting techniques autodidactically.

He was especially fascinated by people and his paintings tell entertaining situations and stories from daily life. In 1977 the painting chef had the opportunity to present his paintings in the municipality of Uzwil to a wider public for the first time. In 1989 Hans Fitze decided to turn painting into his profession and cooking into his hobby. As time went by his name became also known outside of Zürich and Switzerland.

In Germany, Sweden, Italy and the USA as well as in Australia his original paintings and lithographies were admired by friends and collectors. In 1992 his lithographies were presented for the first time at the international Kunst Messe Frankfurt. Hans Fitze is one of the few artists who knows the technique of lithography almost perfectly. His works which have been created on a machine from the year 1860 of the lithography workshop Fritz & Kunz in Zürich are always admired by many buyers and collectors. During the last years the “painter” has also strongly specialised on originals in acrylic technique.
